The contract includes an initial order worth 2.1 billion Swedish crowns (around $210 million), with deliveries expected between 2026 and 2030.
According to Saab, the order covers RBS 70 NG launch units, missiles, and training equipment. The system was developed to detect and engage short-range aerial threats, such as aircraft, drones, and missiles.

The RBS 70 NG is the latest version of Saab’s portable air defense line, equipped with automatic target tracking and integrated night vision. The system can engage targets at distances of up to nine kilometers and altitudes above 5,000 meters, operating in challenging combat conditions with high resistance to interference.
Saab highlights that the NG (Next Generation) variant incorporates decades of operational experience and updated technologies to counter modern threats. The system is already widely used in Europe and exported to more than 19 countries.
The acquisition is part of a broader move among NATO’s eastern flank countries to strengthen their air defenses, amid growing security concerns in the region.
